Testimonial - Kingsley Fixon
Vice President of Business Development, United StatesKingsley’s rich career within the Bouygues Group has been shaped by opportunities, encounters, and challenges—with one guiding principle: sharing.
You’ve spent 23 years with the Group. How did your career begin?
At first, I wanted to become a professional footballer! At sixteen, I was even scouted by a major London club. But in 2002, after a summer internship that I really enjoyed, I became an apprentice electrician at Bouygues Energies & Services. I truly started out in the field, with tools in hand. The company funded my studies before welcoming me full time. After my apprenticeship, I became a supervisor, then a manager. In 2014, I was promoted to site manager, overseeing facility management for several healthcare institutions in London. I later joined a program for young managers, which led to a transfer to Vancouver, Canada.
How did that mobility help you grow professionally?
After three years in Vancouver, I was promoted to Client Director in Toronto in 2019. Following Bouygues’ acquisition of Equans, I became Vice President of Business Development for Equans Services USA, which brought me to Boston. Looking back, I realise how far I’ve come. I’ve managed projects, led technical teams, handled contracts, and built relationships with stakeholders. This hands-on expertise is what allows me today to sell Equans services across the United States. My clients are incredibly diverse (from industry to commercial sectors), and so is our offer—ranging from technical maintenance and asset management to digital solutions.
What do you particularly appreciate about Equans?
It’s a global group full of experts. My role is to connect different parts of the business to offer our clients integrated solutions. Recently, we signed a major contract with vaccine manufacturer Moderna for seven sites worldwide: we’ll be handling HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), energy efficiency, and process engineering. There’s so much we know how to do.
What brings you personal fulfilment on a daily basis?
I love learning and expanding my technical knowledge. In a constantly evolving world—especially with the rise of AI—working at Equans keeps me intellectually stimulated. I also deeply enjoy the human side of the job: in my current role, I’m constantly meeting new people. Travelling also contributes to my fulfilment, and in that regard, I’m lucky in my job. Of course, I make it a point to be someone my clients can rely on—I like knowing they count on me to deliver the best solution. Sustainability, cybersecurity, innovation… There are so many critical challenges ahead, and our teams have the know-how to tackle them.
