Designing charging around fleet operations

    Main charging at the depot can be complemented by top-up charging at logistics centres, making use of vehicle dwell time during loading and unloading operations to:

    • maximise available driving range
    • limit the time dedicated to charging
    • preserve drivers’ break times
      For electric buses

      For electric bus fleets, the depot is a key location for charging infrastructure. We integrate the equipment and systems required to adapt charging to depot operations.

        From design to maintenance: end-to-end control of charging infrastructure

        Once usage requirements have been defined, we manage the different stages of the project:

        • Design
          Understand operational requirements, size the installation, define its layout, assess technical feasibility and prepare the grid connection.
        • Operate
          Monitor equipment and manage charging, power and energy in line with bus fleet operational needs.
        • Deploy
          Install the electrical infrastructure and charging equipment, carry out associated works, connect the site, test and commission the installation.
        • Maintain
          Provide preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance and support the installation over the long term.

        Milence - Port of Antwerp, Belgium

        For Milence, Equans built an electric truck charging station at the Port of Antwerp, equipped with 10 CCS chargers and one MCS charger. A second station provides 10 additional charging points.

        De Lijn - Sint-Niklaas, Belgium

        In Sint-Niklaas, Equans is involved in a depot comprising 32 chargers with a stated capacity of 4 MW, as well as a transformer substation and civil engineering works. The scope covers installation and maintenance.

        Rennes Métropole / Keolis - France

        In Rennes, Equans is working on the electrical infrastructure associated with 92 electric buses, including the creation of 13 high-voltage substations and their remote monitoring.
