          An optimized approach to each project 

          To exit from fossil fuel, enhance energy efficiency and achieve decarbonisation, Equans has developed HEATEO, gathering different technologies for low-carbon installation and maintenance services. The approach is adapted to the challenges and specificities of its clients from public territories to industrial processes and tertiary buildings.

            Heat Recovery

            Waste heat represents a significant energy potential of about 36% of the fuel consumption of the industry.

            Equans analyze the thermal sources and needs of a process to identify where cycle optimization can be implemented. Heat can be  recovered from gaseous or liquid effluent, stored or directly re-use on site or via an energy network facilitating sector coupling. 

            Waste heat can also be utilized by upgrading the temperature with heat pump, for power generation via ORC systems or cooling with absorption equipment.

              Aquifer / Borehole thermal energy Storage

              Geothermal storage uses the stable temperature underground for inter-seasonal re-use of this thermal energy. In summer, the heat from cooling system, industrial processes or solar heat may be stored for heating in winter season, while the lower temperature of the ground may reduce ambient air temperature in summer.

                Green heat module

                Renewable power to heat and storage: low-cost, intermittent and green electricity turns into green heat delivered on demand, storage secure the availability of your heat and demand-response capacity.

                  Energy management systems

                  An Energy Management System (EMS) is a set of digital tools that help monitor, control, and optimize the performance of energy generation, storage, and consumption. These systems are used in various settings to improve energy efficiency, steer energy mix  to lower gas emission and reduce costs of the heat.

                    Heat Pump

                    Nearly 40% of industrial heating demand in 2030 is at temperatures suitable for heat pumps.

                    The heat pump "transforms" low-temperature thermal energy into energy at a higher temperature using a steam compression cycle with an impact three to four times lower than that of a high-efficiency gas installation

                    From standardised products to tailor-made solutions, Equans has cutting-edge expertise from refrigeration. Equans has workshops that manufacture custom-made systems to integrate different temperature levels useful to industrials up to 120°C.

                      Power-to-heat

                      Equans has developed partnership with OEMs of electrode boilers to produce Electric Steam or superheated water. Vapec and Parat have patented technology for heating demineralized water by an electrode immersed in a mobile tank. 

                        Combine heat & power plant

                        Combined Heat and Power (CHP), also known as cogeneration, is a highly efficient process that generates electricity and captures the heat to provide useful thermal energy. CHP technologies include engine or turbo machines.

                          Biomass

                          A biomass plant is a facility that converts organic materials (biomass) into energy. Biomass includes materials like wood, agricultural residues, and animal waste. These plants use various processes to transform biomass into heat and electricity,

                            District heating

                            District Heating is a key ecourbanism tool to tackle Communities energy and climate plan.

                            Equans helps the transition of connected users to lower temperature  needs for enhanced efficiency. Equans integrates renewable energy sources such as solar thermal, large scale heat pump or geothermal and biomass to leverage at the scale of a territory low carbon heating and cooling of buildings. Many countries have policies to support this for path for decarbonization

                            100% CO2 - Neutral Energy Concept

                            • Context : New district planned : six building units with 75.000 m² net floor space. Suitable 100% CO2-neutral heating and cooling plant to be designed and build.
                            • Solution : Heat recovery on the exhaust air of all buildings, recovery from heat and cool from the ground with 2 levels of geothermal drillings. Heat pumps to leverage temperatures. Energy efficiency and sizing of the systems using the sprinkler tanks as thermal storage.
