The nation’s largest urban streetlight modernization project, the “DC Smart Street Lighting Project” was officially launched.
It will contribute to modernize more than 75,000 lights of Washington, D.C. EQUANS is part of the Plenary Infrastructure DC (PIDC) consortium in charge of its achievement and will be asset manager of the infrastructure for 15 years.
All the city street and alley lights will convert to energy-efficient LED with remote monitoring and control possibilities. This network’s modernization will reduce energy use by more than 50% et will eliminate 38,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year. It will also entail an extension of Wi-Fi coverage in traditionally underserved neighborhoods.
