At Equans, Sustainable Procurement reflects our commitment to integrating the highest social, environmental, and governance standards into all our sourcing decisions. This strategy is divided into two programs: Procure for Climate and Procure with Trust. A dedicated team, based across several countries, ensures the effective deployment of these programs.
Our targets
PROCURE WITH TRUST
- Program: Program to identify, measure and mitigate CSR risks of our potentially risky suppliers and partners
- Global commitment: 95% of our suppliers with very high CSR risk suppliers and our suppliers in framework contracts assessed by Ecovadis in 2030
- Requirement for suppliers: Ecovadis evaluation with a minimum score of 45
PROCURE FOR CLIMATE
- Program: Program to identify, measure and reduce CO2 emissions of our suppliers
- Global commitment: -52% of our Scope 3 emissions in intensity (GHG emissions per value added) , between 2023 and 2030
- Requirement for suppliers: Decarbonization commitment, validated by SBTi or a third party

Our CSR charter for suppliers and subcontractors
To reinforce our commitment to sustainability, Equans has established a CSR Charter for suppliers and subcontractors. This Charter sets ethical, social and environmental standards that Equans requires its suppliers and subcontractors to adhere. We expect our partners to ensure that these principles are upheld throughout their entire value chain.
In 2024, this CSR Charter for suppliers and subcontractors has been reviewed to reflect our evolving expectations, particularly in light of our new human rights policy, set at Bouygues Group level.
Our Approach
Identification of high risk suppliers
Procure with Trust: In 2024, we implemented a CSR assessment system for our suppliers. It is based on an initial risk mapping that helps identify our tier-1 partners with the highest CSR risk. These suppliers, as well as those covered by a framework agreement, are then assessed through EcoVadis questionnaires, and an audit may be initiated depending on the estimated level of risk. We engage in regular discussions with suppliers on the results of these assessments, which enables us to deploy tailored preventive measures.
Program to reduce Scope 3 emissions
Procure for Climate: Equans was certified by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) in 2024 and has made ambitious commitments to reduce its Scope 3 emissions by 2030. Emissions related to procurement represent a significant share of Equans’ indirect emissions (over 50% of Equans’ Scope 3 emissions in 2024). To achieve these objectives, we need to collaborate with partners committed to a decarbonization approach. This is why we are launching the Procure for Climate program.
This program is divided into three parts:
- Data collection: we are using the Integrity Next platform to collect carbon data and commitments of our strategic suppliers
- Supplier support: we are working with CarbonShift to support our partners improving their carbon maturity level (cf. more details below)
- Supplier selection: we are progressively integrating results of this program in our tenders and as a requirement for working with Equans
Supplier support for decarbonization
To help our suppliers in reaching Equans targets and formalized decarbonization commitment, a specific supporting program has been deployed by our internal consulting company CarbonShift.
Three level of support can be provided:
- Fast-track Carbon Footprint: first analysis to get a rapid assessment of your company carbon footprint (Scopes 1, 2, and 3) using the CarbonShift calculator.
- Complete Carbon Footprint & Initial Commitments: in-depth analysis to identify key decarbonization levers and define of reduction targets.
- Strategy & Action Plan: turn insights into action by building a tailored decarbonization roadmap — and go further with the implementation of concrete measures, including on-site works when needed.
