EQUANS is part of an ambitious project: creating the first all-electric hospital in The Netherlands. When completed in 2021, the complex will meet the highest requirements in terms of sustainability, energy saving, hygiene, flexible use of space and comfort.
The Isala and Noorderboog complex is a unique project within The Netherlands. In order to achieve the ambitious sustainability goals of Isala, EQUANS collaborated with Trebbe and Dura Vermeer as part of a consortium (TDE). In addition to the realization of this new all-electric hospital (17,690 m2), TDE will also be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the building for a period of 25 years.
A sustainable design
Sustainability plays a major role in the functional design of the building. EQUANS translated the green ambitions into a feasible design for construction. The fact that the building doesn’t have a gas connection has an huge impact on the technical installations used by EQUANS. Energy is stored by means of a heat and cold storage. In this heat and cold storage (WKO), geothermal energy is used for heating and cooling buildings. The roof of the building will be covered with ca. 400 solar panels. In April 2022 the first all-electric hospital in The Netherlands will open the doors for its first patients.
